A

The growth in the proportion of a country’s population living in urban areas e.g. Moving from rural areas to cities such as London

A

It is happening in countries all over the world.
-more than 50% of the world population is currently living in urban areas (3.9 billion people) and this is increasing every day

A

Happened earlier in developed countries e.g. During the industrial revolution and most (79%) of the population now already live in urban areas. Developed countries have slow rates of urban growth.

A

Smaller proportion (35%) of the population in developing countries currently live in urban areas. In general, the fastest rates of urbanisation in the world are in developing countries.
