Q

Central nervous system

A

Consists of the brain and spinal cord. Processes information and creates a response that is delivered to appropriate part of body through peripheral nervous system

6
Q

Three types of neurons

A

Sensory neuron- impulses go from sense organs(eyes and ears) to spinal cord and brain
Motor neurons- impulses from brain and spinal cord to muscles and glands
Interneurons- they do the high level work. Process information from sensory neurons and send commands to other interneurons and motor neurons.

16
Q

Autonomic nervous system

A

Regulates activities that are involuntary or not under conscious control

17
Q

Reflex arc

A

A reflex caused by impulses that travel a pathway

18
Q

Three layer of eye

A

Retina choroid and sclera

19
Q

Retina

A

Inner layer of eye with photoreceptors

20
Q

Choroid

A

Middle layer rich in blood vessels

21
Q

Sclera

A

Outer layer of eye that maintains its shape serves as a point of attachment for muscles that move eye

22
Q

Cornea

A

Tough transparent layer of cells

23
Q

Aqueous humor

A

A fluid located between the lens and cornea

24
Q

Iris

A

Colored part of the eye

25
Pupil
Small opening in the middle of the Iris
26
Votreous humor
Large Chamber of jelly like fluid. Shock absorber protection
27
Fovea
Site of sharpest vision, cones are concentrated there
28
Cones
Less light sensitive than rods but they respond to color
29
Rods
Extremely light sensitive but no color
30
Cochlea
