- It is the painless killing of someone dying from a disease
- British law says that all methods are illegal and can lead to a murder charge
- There are two types - passive euthanasia involved taking away life support
- Positive euthanasia involved actively bringing someone’s life to an end
Explain the nature of abortion
•It’s the removal of the foetus from the womb before it can survive
Methods:
•Vacuum aspiration - A sharp vacuum is used to cut up the foetus and remove it
•Hysterectomy - Caesarean section but the umbilical cord is cut before birth
•Partial birth - The baby is particularly born and then sharp forceps are used to destroy the brain and the brain is then sucked out with a suction device
