children, parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc.

a child / children permanently adopted into a family. they may have different races
blended family (recombined, reconstituted, remarried)
a family formed with parents who divorced their first family, with children from different marriages
foster family
children living with a foster family for temporary care until they can return to their biological family or be adopted
common-law marriage
two parents are cohabitating but not legally married
