Target is known and biochemical data is available. Still the target can be undrugable meaning that it cannot be reached with drugs. Different modelings and libraries are used to find potential compounds that are then modified to increase the binding - As a result we get drugs that work in vitro

Whole cell based approach phenotypic screens –>
Compounds libraries are used against live bacteria to screen potential molecules. As a result, we get bacteriostatic compounds what we don’t know the MoA. thereupon one can use target based approach
