Q

Carbon Cycle

A

Carbon is absorbed through plants via photosynthesis. That plant is then eaten by a cow which transfers the carbon to the cow. And then a wolf eats the cow and now the carbon is in the wolf. Then the wolf dies and the carbon is released into the atmosphere.

Q

Nitrogen Cycle

A

Nitrifying bacteria takes nitrogen from the air and turns it into nitrate for the plants to use. Then the plants get eaten, then the plant eater gets eaten, then the thing that ate the plant eater dies. All the nitrogen seeps into the soil. Then denitrifying bacteria turn the nitrate back into gas and release it into the atmosphere.

Q

Energy and matter

A

Similarities: As you go higher up the food chain you find less and less energy and matter as animals release matter and energy before being eaten.

Differences: Energy isn´t cycles, being released into space at the end of the day. While matter is, all matter is recycled and reused to feed the never ending need for it as long as life exists on earth.
