What year

A

A civil war between the Sudanese army ( supported by the janjaweed) and many rebel groups. It resulted in Sudan being split into two parts and the situation is still unsettled

A

Economic / environmental - drought increasing desertification

Remote location - the area is much in poverty, by the time the world found out about it thousands had already died

National pride - there was conflict between the rebel groups who wanted Sudan split in two but the government wanted it to remain as a whole

Long standing ethnic hatred - both sides had a history of disputes over religious and ethnic issues. The gov was accused of prosecuting non- arabs

Conflicts should be resolved using the ideas of forgiveness - Muhammad taught people should forgive and be reconciled with those who have offended them - on judgement day allah will show mercy and forgiveness to those who have done so also - allah is called the compassionate and merciful ( this teaches muslims should act in that way)
