1
Q

What is Newton’s first law of motion?

A

A body will remain at rest or at constant velocity if there is no net force. If a force is applied, the body will accelerate, change direction, spin or change shape

2
Q

What is Newton’s second law of motion?

A

The resultant force experienced by an object is directly proportional to the rate of change of momentum

3
Q

What is Newton’s third law of motion?

A

Every action force has an equal and opposite reaction force. The reaction force is the same type and has the same magnitude as the original force but acts in the opposite direction and on a different object

4
Q

How is momentum calculated?

A

Mass x velocity

5
Q

How is net force calculated from momentum?

A

Change in momentum / time

6
Q

What is impulse?

A

Change in momentum

Force x time

7
Q

What does the area of a force-time graph represent?

A

Impulse

8
Q

What is the principle of conservation of momentum?

A

For a system of interacting objects, the total momentum in a specified direction remains constant as long as no external forces act on the system

9
Q

What are the features of a perfectly elastic collision? (3)

A

Total energy conserved
Total momentum conserved
Kinetic energy conserved

10
Q

What are the features of an inelastic collision? (3)

A

Total energy conserved
Total momentum conserved
Kinetic energy not conserved
