Exam 2 Flashcards
What is a histogram?
a graph that shows how many tones were collected at the point of capture, and
illustrates how the levels of brightness are distributed in the image
What 3 controls can you adjust on a histogram?
Highlight
Midtone
Shadow
How do you apply a tonal adjustment to an image in a non-destructive way?
Use an
adjustment layer rather than apply the tonal adjustment to the image layer.
Which tools do you use to measure the amount of ink that will be printed?
The eyedropper tool is used to measure the amount of ink. The INFO Window displays the
reading of the eyedropper tool.
What portion of a tone will grow (dot gain) the greatest when printed? And what would you do to compensate for this dot gain?
The midtone will grow or gain the most when an image is printed. To reduce this effect, lower the midtone on the curve approximately 10%.
What two factors should you consider when lighting a photography that will effect how the viewer perceives the image?
Direction and Intensity.
Describe the focal length of a lens.
The focal length of a lens determines its angle of view, and how much the subject will be magnified for a given photographic position.
What is image ratio?
The amount of magnification you get with the macro setting or a dedicated macro lens
What is the difference between Macrophotography, Microphotography and
Photomicrophotography?
Macrophotography- Image Ratio from 1:1 to 1:50 times normal size
Microphotography - Producing very small images, such as microfilm or microcircuits
Photomicrophotography - Makes use of a compound microscope to create an image
