Islam
- “To turn oneself over”
- Submission to God’s will
- Muslim: The one who has submitted
- Every revealed religion is one of the forms of islam
Iman
- Involves confidence in a truth that is really true, not a supposed truth
- The heart knows and recognizes that something is true
- The heart is the spiritual organ that separates humans from non humans
- Healthy heart vs. sick heart
- Iman therefore demands islam
- Opposite is kufr (unbelief, covering of truth)
Ihsan
- “Doing what is beautiful”=tuning into the Real through a sincere, intentional act
- Every positive quality
- Often designates God as the one who is good and does beauiful
- If God does what is beautiful through creating human beings, human beings have the obligation to do what is beautiful in their relationships with God and others.

The three dimensions together
They are related to each other in the way that they all depend one each other to make up the whole of Islam
-Islam is the foundation, Iman, then Ihsan
How, and to what extent are Islam, Iman and Ihsan, cures to shirk (associating others with God)?
- Because shirk is nothing but the reverse side of tawhid
- Since practicing islam, ihsan, and iman is to incorporate the concept that there is only one God–which is the exact opposite of shirk
How do the Islamic principles of Tanzih and Tashbih shape human knowledge about God?
uhmmmm ask at tutorial tmrw
