A
  • MEDICATION
  • -> Anticoagulants (risk for bleeding vs pros of preventing stroke)
  • -> NSAIDS (if you use NSAID, make sure to protect upper GI tract with PPI (prilosec)

Risk of procedure itself

A
  • Blood tests need to be explained carefully to the pt
  • RADIOLOGY IS A VERY WEALTHY THIRD WORLD NATION
  • -> ask ourselves if the proposed exam/test will REVEAL ENOUGH USEFUL info to outweigh the INCONVENIENCE and RISK to pt
  • -> endoscopy is much easier on the patient and reveals a lot of info
