What is proportional justice?
When people get what is fair
What is restorative justice?
Criminals meet with victims to face what they have done and try repair some of the damage they have caused
What is deterrence?
People are put off committing a crime because they are scared of the punishment
What is forgiveness?
To let go of anger towards someone I to pardon them for a wrong they have committed
What is capital punishment?
The death penalty
What is protection?
Criminals are removed from society so that they can’t cause any more harm
What is reconciliation?
The mending of a broken relationship
What is reformation?
Criminals are helped to change their ways e.g through counselling
What is repentance?
To express remorse and a desire to change
What is retribution?
Criminals pay for what they have done (revenge)
What are human rights?
Things that every person is entitled to by virtue of being human or because they are human
What is justice?
When people get what is fair or what they deserve
What is injustice?
When people do not get what is fair or what they deserve
What is liberation theology?
A Christian movement when people speak out against social injustice
What is social injustice?
When a group of people in society don’t get what they deserve or what is fair
