TYPES OF CONFORMITY (ASHE)

  • PUBLIC CONFORMITY; only in the presence of conformity

- PRIVATE CONFORMITY; a behaviour that you would display even if people weren’t watching ie. animal cruelty

  • Experiment showed participants of single pinpoint of a light in a dark romo
  • Participants were asked to estimate individually how far the light moved from its original position
  • After initial attempt, participants worked in pairs to reach census
  • Establishing agreed point

  • Therefore participants may have not considered it to be a group
  • No right/wrong answer; ambitious
