  • Animal rights - especially if humans are the cause of them being threatened
  • Versus our own needs

When are the 2 times we could attempt to conserve?

A
  1. Reactive - conservation when species are on the verge of extinction e.g. hotspots - areas with high diversity and high threat
  2. Proactive - conserving areas with little damage e.g. high biodiversity wildlife areas (HBWA) - areas with high diversity that could be under threat in the future

A

Dependent upon goals and costs
