What is piping used for?

A

What is piping cord made from?

A

Cotton/polyester, in a range of thicknesses depending on the product (cotton cord should be shrunken before use)

Process (piping)

A
  1. wrap the fabric/bias binding over the cord
  2. pin as closely to the edge of the cord as possible
  3. stitch the cord in place using a zipper foot
  4. sew the piping between two pieces of fabric (right sides facing inwards over the piping)

A

Used to give the product strength/crispness/shape or prevent fabrics from stretching (before the construction/decorative process)
