Because the English government was treating America unfairly, so America wanted to declare independence from England and set up a government for itself

votes made by members of the electoral college, which elects the president and Vice President.

Legislative Branch (Congress)- Makes the laws. Executive Branch (President)- Enforces the laws. Judicial Branch (Supreme Court)- Interprets the laws.

Law requiring all legal and commercial documents to carry an official stamp showing that a tax had been paid

Primary and secondary sources
primary sources are sources written by someone who lived with or near something or someone. They could also be made by the person they are referring to. Secondary sources are things written about someone or something by someone who was not there.
The bill of rights
first ten amendments to the US constitution. Written guarantees to human rights that absolutely cannot be taken away by the government.
Checks and balances
the system of how the three branches of government check and balance each other out.

They wanted gold, new land, slaves, and to get rich with imports and exports

system of government in which power is shared between the national government and the states
Amendment process
to propose, ⅔ of each house of congress or ⅔ of states legislatures have to approve. to ratify, ¾ of state legislatures or ¾ of states approve.
