What is a subordinating cunjunction ?
A subordinating conjunction is a word or phrase that joins a dependent (subordinate) clause to an independent (main) clause. It shows the relationship between the two clauses, such as time, cause, condition, contrast, or purpose.

What are coordinating conjunctions ?
Coordinating conjunctions are words that join parts of a sentence that are of equal importance or equal grammatical structure—such as words, phrases, or independent clauses.
List FANBOYS
F – For (explains reason or purpose, like “because”)
Example: I brought an umbrella, for it looked like rain.
A – And (adds one thing to another)
Example: She bought apples and oranges.
N – Nor (joins two negative ideas)
Example: He doesn’t like tea, nor does he enjoy coffee.
B – But (shows contrast)
Example: I wanted to go, but I was too tired.
O – Or (offers a choice)
Example: Would you like tea or coffee?
Y – Yet (shows contrast, similar to “but”)
Example: It was raining, yet we went hiking.
S – So (shows result or effect)
Example: It was late, so we went home.
