Q

3 Benefits and 5 Problems that are a result of a fever:

A

Benefits:
1. Pathogens don’t like the increase in temp.
2. Body stops using glucose for metabolic needs. It instead uses lipids and proteins and Pathogens are then starved of food (glucose)
3. Fever increases immune activity

Problems:
1. Decreases filtration rate of KD
2. Increases bleeding risk
3. Temp >104 can damage LV
4. Inflammation of GI tract due to decrease in blood flow
5. >104 may cause brain damage
