Cyclades
c. 3000-1600 B.C.E. do not have written records. used tools fashioned from obsidian or volcanic glass to create these works.
Minos/Minotaur/Minoans
c. 3000-1400 B.C.E. people of ancient Crete. not only self-sufficient, but, due to its ports and trade, was rather prosperous.
Linear A
early form of writing that has not been deciphered

Sir Arthur Evans
excavated on Crete from 1900 - 1905, as well as reconstructed some of the Knossos temple complex. He gave these people the name Minoans, after the legend.
Mycenean
c. 1400 -1100 B.C.E. Minoan culture was in a decline and ended abruptly around 1400 BCE, when Mycenean culture becomes dominant. The Minoans influenced the Myceneans, there is evidence of trade, contact between the cultures and examples of linear B, the mainland’s writing, show up on Crete.
Heinrich Schlieman
1869-70 he began work in Turkey excavating. Schlieman studied the descriptions of sites in the poems and figured out a site to start digging (Hissarlik). The 6th layer is now considered to be Homer’s Troy. Schliemann also excavated on the Greek mainland and found burials at Mycenae
Corbel
a way of using stepped bricks, built up to a point at the top, to relieve the weight of the lintel above.
