conflict is harmful, opposition is dysfunctional, seen as negative (poor communication/openness/trust/inability of supervisor to respond to needs)
pluralist interpretation of conflict
Pluralist → conflict is natural between groups, clash of interests, task of management is mediating between goals of groups.
interactionist interpretation of conflict
Interactionist (functional/constructive conflict) → current, minimum level of conflict is necessary for innovation/change, suggests self criticism fuels creativity.
