A

-difference b/n the highest and lowest value in your data set

Standard Deviation

A
  • the standard amount scores deviate from the mean
  • the standard deviation is preferable over range to measure variability b/c it takes all scores into account, not just the two most extreme values

A
  • use for interval, or ratio scale data

- not valid for nominal or ordinal scale data
