26
Q

Command Guidance

A

Both missile and target are tracked. Fire Control System uplinks steering commands to missile. System must have capability to track both the missile and the target and there will be a separate guidance antenna to uplink commands to the missile.

27
Q

Semi-Active Guidance

A

The target is illuminated by radar, the missile is equipped with a radar receiver and based on the reflected radar energy formulates it’s own commands to intercept. The illumination must maintain a continuous track on the target in order to supply radar returns to the missile.

28
Q

Ground Aided Inertial

A

Relies on both the INS within the missile and uplink commands to guide to the target. Used only for mid-course flight, will utilize a different technique for terminal phase. The missile starts from a known point and is preprogrammed with target information prior to launch, during flight target track radar uplinks new target data and the missile compares this new target location with its own Nd computes intercept.

29
Q

Track Via Missile

A

The missile’s seeker receives reflected energy off of the target, determines the relationship between the missile and the target, and down links this information to the FCS. Guidance commands are then calculated on the ground and transmitted to the missile.

30
Q

Seeker Aided Ground Guidance

A

Target is illuminated by ground based radar and the missile receives reflected energy from the target. The missile does not generate it’s own guidance commands, it transmits the raw data to the ground based fire control system in order to generate and uplink guidance commands.
