I can’t believe it! By the end of this month (Para finales de mes), I will have paid for this house completely. I never thought that this would happen. I thought that I would either move (mudarse) or die (morir) before making out that last miserable check (hacer un cheque - to make out a check) . When I make out that last check, taking into consideration (tomar en consideración - to take into consisderation) all the interest (el interés) I’ve paid, I will have bought this house almost three times. A year from now, I suppose that I’ll have forgotten that the bank owned (tener) more of this house than I did for many years, and the bank will have forgotten that I had ever (alguna vez) existed. I must have been crazy to think that a forty-year mortgage (la hipoteca) would make me feel as if I were a mature adult. It only made me feel poor. In two years,I’ll have saved (ahorrar) thousands of dollars and taken at least two long vacations. I wish I were in Tahiti right now.
No puedo creerlo! Para finales de mes habré pagado esta casa completamente. Nunca pensaba que esto ocurriría. Creía que o me mudaría o me moriría antes de hacer ese último cheque miserable. Cuando haga ese último cheque, tomando en consideración todo el interés que he pagado, habré comprado esta casa casi tres veces. De ahora en un año, supongo que habré olvidado que el banco tenía más de esta casa que yo por muchos años y el banco habrá olvidado que yo había existido alguna vez. Habré estado loco/loca para creer que una hipoteca de cuarenta años me haría sentir como si fuera un adulto/adulta maduro/madura. Sólo me hacía sentir pobre. En dos años, habré ahorrado miles de dólares y tomado por lo menos dos largas vacaciones. Quisiera estar en Tahití ahora mismo.
