4.2 Flashcards
(10 cards)
Name some landscapes that are made by human processes in the lowland
They can be large villages found around farms, and rivers and irrigation channels to act as field boundaries of the land
Name some landscape caused by humans process in uplands
Dispersed settlement patterns, field boundaries, and afforestation
What post glacial processes affect the lowlands
The water from the glaciers has cause the water to leek through the chalk and the rocks. At winter the rocks would freeze up as there is water in it. After time the water will melt and it will leave a river in the Valley.
What slope process affect the low lands
Landslides affects the lowlands. Slow movement of soil on a slope has the power to dislodge many trees and objects in its way.
The glacial proof has been left behind in the uplands?
Misfit river/streams. We can see that I the uplands that there are rivers in the bottom of the u shaped valley. This is caused by glacier when the were moving. This water inside The Valley is the melt water from glaciers.
What weathering process affect the uplands
Freeze thaw weathering affects the uplands. As well as land slide and rockfalls.
What weathering process affects the lowlands.
The lowland is affected by biological, physical and chemical weathering
What is freeze thaw weathering?
It is when water fills up in cracks. At night the cracks freeze up and overtime the crack will expand by 10%. This process will repeat over many years until the the cracks falls apart.
What are characteristics of chalk
Chalk is formed by being purer form of limestone. It has median restrain but stronger than clay and sand.
What are characteristics of limestone
It builds up of layers from calcium and carbonate. Made 250-350 million years ago
