North Korea invaded South Korea.The United States sent troops to South Korea to stop the spread of Communism. The president authorized military force.

Cuba became communist in 1959. The US was scared of communism spreading because Cuba is so close to Florida. The US secretly trained a group to invade Cuba and overthrow the leader. The plan failed. Cuba and the US had worse relations.
