AGM-84 Description

A

Stand-off Land Attack Missile (SLAM), or SLAM-ER (Expanded Range). Intermediate range (+150nm for ER) missile designed to provide day, night, and adverse weather precision strike capability against land targets and ships in port. The SLAM uses INS with GPS, IR terminal guidance coupled with automated target recognition and man in the loop control.

A

Low-level, laser guided, maneuverable free-fall weapon. Uses Mk-84 (GBU-24), BLU-109 or BLU-116 AUP (advanced unitary penetrator) bodes. GBU-24 E/B adds GPS/INS guidance to allow adverse weather capability. Can be released from very low or very high altitudes, Can be released below a very low overcast (3,000-4,500’ AGL) if the correct mode switches have been set.

FW Loft Delivery

A

Aircrew proceeds inbound to the target from IP. At a calculated point, the aircrew starts a loft maneuver pull-up. Once released, the weapon continues an upward trajectory while the aircrew executes follow-on tactics or egresses. After it apexes, the weapon follows a ballistic path to impact.

FW Pop Up Delivery

A

The aircrew proceeds to the target from the IP at low/very low altitude. As the aircrew nears the target, they pop-up to the desired altitude and execute a level or dive delivery.

A

Used for both free fall and forward firing ordnance. These deliveries typically use dive angles of 5 to 60 degrees.

A
