  • 3-4 myeloid line cells for every erythroid line cell.
  • differences in this ratio will lead you to different disease pathways ( increased: chronic myeloid leukemia
    decreased: acute/chronic hemolysis)

What are the indications for a bone marrow biopsy?

A
  • Dx and staging of hematologic diseases
  • assess bone marrow cellularity
  • assess cellular morphology and maturation
  • monitoring chemotherapy in leukemias
  • cytogenic immunophenotypic and molecular analyses can be done
    NOT for DM assessment
