4.4 Indeterminable Form And LHopital Rule Flashcards
(5 cards)
L’Hospitals rule
-limit of the quotient of functions (when 0/0 or infinity/infinity) is equal to the quotient of their derivatives -also valid for one-sided limits and for limits at infinity or negative infinity
Horizontal asymptote of F
-x^2/x=infinity (numerator bigger goes to infinity) -x/x^2=0 (denominator bigger goes to zero)
Indeterminable products
-when you take the limit of a product and it turns out to be 0 x infinity -convert it to type 0/0 or infinity/infinity - fg= f/(1/g) or fg=g/(1/f)
Indeterminable differences
-when you take the limit of a difference eq and get infinity - infinity -convert the difference into a quotient (use common denominator, rationalize, factor out common factor)
Indeterminable products
