What is the empirical treatment of uncomplicated community-acquired pneumonia?
A
A macrolide (eg/ azithromycin) 500mg PO once daily for 5 days -other options: clarithromycin or doxycycline
Consider adding amoxicillin if the patient has been on antibiotics in the past 3 months or is at risk of a resistant organism.
