Lincoln’s Speeches
Emancipation Proclamation: slaves (behind enemy lines) were free. The impact was that some African Americans joined the war on the North’s side and made the South weaker.
Gettysburg Address: Lincoln made the commemoration to the dead that fought in the battle and said that he would make the US a Union again. Impact was that he had more people join his efforts in the war
Causes of Civil War
Slavery: John Brown was a radical that fought the South for the freedom of slaves, he was also hung for treason when he lost, and the public response was that he was either a murderer or as the North did, expressed admiration for him or the cause.
Sectionalism: the north dominate the south in every aspect, except slavery and cotton
