What are the layers of the corneal epithelium?

Answer 1

Basal Cells -tranisent multiplying cells capable of mitosis, stem cells at the limbus

Wing Cells - no longer mitotic (2-4 layers of cells)

Squamous non keratinsed epithelium - slough off with blinking and replenished by cells below

Basal Lamina - below the basal cells (a hole in this needs to form for permanent damage to be done)

How quickly can an abrasion to the eye heal if it does not reach the basal lamina?
