A

Members can monitor and reinforce productions of others, members can have different target phonemes. Kids in class serve as reminder in school as well.

A

After child masters sound production at single word level
When you have large case load
When number of clients are at same level in therapy and of similar age

How to do group therapy?

A

Group clients after phoneme established
Don’t let only one kid talk
Use clocks/timers/spin bottle to keep track of whose turn to talk it is
Rewards must be easy and quick
Intro group members, selecting teacher and monitor to give points, give each a data sheet to take own data

A

Group members listen and eval each other’s speech
Each models, guides, provides rewards to other group members
Constant interaction, clinician pulls out for individuals as needed
Teaches group members to act as clinician

A

A

More natural interactions, group members monitor, reward, and punish each other- see more in short time
Must deal with behavior, more time needed for materials, difficult to involve all all the time

20/20/20 split

A

First client comes in for first twenty minutes for individual treatment, second comes in for 20 minutes and time is shared, last twenty minutes with second client only.

A

Able to spend individual time on uncommon goals without wasting other clients time, individual goals practiced and gen in group
Time short, 20 min not long- some time wasted in transition from mode to next- again, prep time

3-4 clients working on similar target behavior (don’t exceed 3 year range) Structured so that individuals benefit from interaction with members and activities that involve group. Members serve as models.
