Cicatrix (Scar)
a mark remaining after the healing of a wound, such as one caused by injury, illness, smallpox vaccination, or surgery.
Crust
a formed outer layer, especially an outer layer of solid matter formed by drying of a bodily exudate or secretion.
Erosion
Superficial destruction of a surface by friction, pressure, ulceration, or trauma.
Fissure
A deep furrow, cleft, or slit; a gap between bones or bony elements.
Keloid
a sharply elevated, irregularly shaped, progressively enlarging scar, due to excessive collagen formation in the corium during connective tissue repair.
Lichenification
thickening and hardening of the skin, with exaggeration of its normal markings.
Scales
dry, flaky exfoliations of the skin without any discontinuity of its surface.
Ulcer
a local defect, or excavation of the surface of an organ or tissue, produced by sloughing of necrotic inflammatory tissue.
