Cell Surface Markers/Cytokines Flashcards
1
Q
HSC Surface Markers
A
CD34+, Thy1+, CD33-, lin-
2
Q
CD34
A
Highly glycosylated surface membrane protein, essential for adhesion to the BM stroma
3
Q
Thy1
A
GPI linked membrane glycoprotein, responsible for cell adhesion and recognition
4
Q
T-Lymphocyte Markers
A
CD2-CD10
5
Q
Myeloid & Monocyte Markers
A
CD11-CD15
6
Q
B-Lymphocyte Markers
A
CD19-CD23
7
Q
CD33
A
Immature Myeloid marker
8
Q
IL-1 alhpa
A
Product of stimulated macrophages, activates T-Cells to produce IL-2 and IL-2 receptor which produces cytokines
- Stimulates stem cells to enter the cell cycle
- Endogenous pyrogen
9
Q
IL-2
A
- Proliferates with the activation of CD34+ T-Cells
- Treatment for renal cell carcinoma and melanoma
- Treatment for breast cancer, B-Cell lymphomas, acute and chronic leukemias
10
Q
IL-5
A
- Synth. by activated CD34+ T-Cells
- Stimulates proliferation and maturation of eosinophils
- Enhances respiratory burst enz. in eosinophils (combats worms/parasites)
11
Q
IL-6
A
- Synth. by activated CD34+ T-Cells, macro and in muscle
- Broadly stimulates hematopoiesis (myeloid and lymphoid)
- Pyrogen- stimulates PGE2 in hypothalamus which changes the thermostat setting
- IL-6 overproduction associated with melanoma, breast cancer, MM
12
Q
Granulocyte-Monocyte CSF
A
- Synth. by endothelial cells, fibroblasts, macrophages and activated CD34+ cells
- Stimulates production and maturation of granulocytes and monocytes
- Activates respiratory burst enzymes
- Can cause fevers when used as a med. not shown to be better than G-CSF alone except when trying to specifically elevate monocytes/macrophages for a fungal infection
13
Q
Granulocyte CSF
A
- Synth. by endothelial cells, monocytes and activated CD34+ T-cells
- Stimulates proliferation and maturation of granulocytes only
14
Q
Monocyte CSF
A
- Synth. primarily by osteoblasts
- Stimulates monocyte maturation
- Increases phago., signals thru TKR family
15
Q
NHL Surface Markers
A
B-Cells CD20+
