A

Major depression- episode of depression that occurs sudden
May be reactive (external factors) or endogenous (internal factors)

Manic depression (bipolar) - alteration between two extreme moods
Mood changes occur in a regular cycle
Mania (Extreme happiness, over activity etc)
Followed by depression

E.g. Insomnia, fidgety, worthlessness and guilt, less ability to concentrate, recurrent thoughts of death

The symptoms not caused by medication or situations and hinder person from important day-to-day functioning
