A

The phases of the moon are caused by it’s position in relation to the sun and Earth. When the moon moves around the Earth, the sun shines on it in different places, causing the phases of the moon.

The moon pulls on the water closest to it, making the tide higher in that part of the world. The moon also pulls on the Earth, leaving behind the water on the other side of the Earth, making the tide higher in that part of the world too.
