A

A sentence is a collection of words.

What is a simple sentence?

A

This type of sentence is made up of only one a (a main clause). A simple sentence therefore only has one finite verb.

What is a compound sentence?

A

This type of sentence is made up of two (or more) main clauses. A compound sentence therefore has two (or more) finite verbs. The main clauses are joined together by a co-ordinating conjunction.
