What are the 9 steps?

A
  1. Direct confrontation= suspect is directly told they are thought to have committed the offence
  2. Shift blame= suspect offered chance to shift blame by offering of suggestions/justifications
  3. Interrupt any denial
  4. Obtain confession= ignore suspects reasons why they couldn’t have committed the crime
  5. Reinforce sincerity
  6. Move to confession= offer alternatives
  7. Alternative q= give 2 choices of what suspect could do, 1 more socially acceptable but both admitting to guilt
  8. Confess in front of witnesses
  9. Signing confession
