Fine confluent macules on face/head, move down. Desquamating rash, fever, arthralgia.
In infants?
Rubella
Blueberry muffin rash, PDA, cataracts, deafness
Fever, confluent red macules and papules. Forehead to face to body.
Diagnostic things?
Measles (Rubeola)
Cough, runny nose, conjunctivitis, red spots w/ blue centers in mouth.
High fever for 3-5 days, then fever stops and diffuse macular rash on trunk starts. Spreads to limbs.
Roseola
Oval-shaped vesicles on palms and soles. Vesicles and ulcers in mouth.
H-F-M (Coxsackie A)
Lacy rash on fact, fever
Parvo (5ths, E.I.)
Erythematous, sandpaper rash on trunk and neck, spreads to extremities. Not palms or soles. Desquamating. Fever, sore throat.
2 diagnostic findings?
Scarlet fever (strep. pyogenes)
- Strawberry tongue
- Linear petechial rash in axillary fold and antecubital fossa
Gram negative non-motile rod to coccoid, obligate intracellular bacterium
Rickettsia
High fever, severe headache, conjunctivitis, rash on wrists and ankles, palms and soles, the spreads to trunk.

RMSF - R. rickettsii
Wood tick or dog tick
Red papule that turns into vesicle, then days later headache and fever. Vesicles all over body.

Rickettsial pox - R. akari
Mites
Fever, headahce, small pink macules on upper trunk, then entire body. Not palms, soles or face. Unsanitary, over-populated, or war conditions.
