What are the prescribing conventions?

A
  • Write out micrograms, nanograms and “units” (for diabetes treatment) in full
    • No naked decimals (e.g. “.5”)
    • Avoid ‘hanging’ zeros (e.g. “5.0”)

  • % w/v = grams per 100ml

* % v/v = ml per 100ml

mass (g):volume (ml)
• E.g. 1:10 means 1g in 10ml
• 1 in 5 means 1g in 5ml
