Q

What happens in Sickle Cell Anaemia?

A

The red blood cells stick together and block blood vessels.
The blocking of blood vessels can sometimes be fatal because suffers can have joint pain because not enough oxygen gets to the muscles.
The sickle cells block the capillaries (blood vessels)

Q

What happens in Cystic Fibrosis?

A

In cystic fibrosis, the lungs get clogged with thick mucus which then makes breathing difficult which can lead to infections.
The enzymes can’t get to their small intestine, which causes us to not be able to break down their food and grow.
