Refers to a two-dimensional element with an area on a plane.
Shape
three dimensional element with volume in space.
form
Visible spectrum of radiation reflected from an object. It refers to specific hues used in design.
color
Refers to the relationship of the area around or between the elements.
Size
The distance or area around or between the elements in a design
Space
Refers to the surface quality of a shape or how it feels to appear: rough, smooth, soft, hard, or glossy.
Texture
Refers to the difference between light and darkness of a color.
Value
guidelines to follow if you want to create effective visuals, from oil paintings and blog graphics to eye-catching social media posts.
The Principles of Design
An arrangement of elements distributed evenly.
Symmetrical Balance
An arrangement of unlike objects of equal weight on each side of the page.
Asymmetrical Balance
Is an equal distribution of of the graphics’ visual weight which is determined by its size, darkness or lightness, and thickness of lines.
BALANCE
This considers when all elements are in agreement.
unity
It is the difference of two or more elements in a design. It is most commonly associated with readability, legibility, and accessibility.
CONTRAST
Can sometimes be referred to as dominance. If contrast deals with difference between elements, emphasis deals with the
impact of the element.
EMPHASIS
it is the recurrence of a design element, commonly utilized in patterns and textures. It promotes consistency which shows an effort of unifying all parts of the design.
