Q

How can you measure rate of reaction using precipitation? (2)

A
  • If the product of the reaction is a precipitate then observe a mark through the solution and measure how long it takes for it to disappear
  • The quicker it disappears the quicker the reaction

Q

What are the disadvantages of using precipitation to measure rate of reaction? (2)

A
  • Only works for reactions where the initial solution is rather see-through
  • Results are very subjective

Q

How can you measure rate of reaction using the change in mass? (3)

A
  • Measuring the speed of a reaction which produces a gas can be done on a mass balance
  • As the mass disappears it can be measured
  • The quicker the reading drops, the faster the reaction

Q

How can you measure rate of reaction using the volume of gas given off?

A
  • Using a gas syringe to measure the volume of gas given off

- The more gas given off during a time interval, the faster the reaction
