Windshear Escape Maneuver

Manual flight

A
Press either TO/GA switch
Max thrust to stops
Disconnect Autothrottle
Roll wings level and rotate to 15 degrees
Retract speed brakes
Follow flight director guidance

Do not change configuration
Monitor vertical speed and altitude
Do not attempt to regain lost airspeed until windshear is no longer a factor

Auto flight

A

“Max Thrust, Stow Speedbrake”

Autopilot and Autothrottle engaged:
May leave autopilot engaged
Press TO/GA switch
Verify TO/GA mode
Verify GA thrust
Retract Speedbrakes

Do not change configuration
Monitor vertical speed and altitude
Do not attempt to regain lost airspeed until windshear no longer a factor

Terrain Caution or Warning

At night or IMC

A

“Max thrust, stow speedbrakes”

Disconnect autopilot and autothrottles
Thrust levers to forward stops
Wings level and 20 degrees
Do not follow flight director
Retract speedbrakes 
Maintain configuration

If necessary, increase pitch until warning stops or stick shaker is reached. Adjust pitch to stay on threshold.

Daytime VMC

A

Take corrective action until warning ceases and clearance is assured

Advise ATC of any deviations

Nose-high recovery

A

“Attitude”

Disconnect autopilot and autothrottle

Unload the aircraft
Bank to 60-90 degrees and allow nose to fall through horizon (rudder as necessary)
Roll wings level as nose passes horizon

Recover airspeed and altitude gradually

Unload and roll Wings level
Correct to level flight or climb without g-loading
Recover altitude and airspeed
