Evaluating The Multi Store Model Of Memory Flashcards

1
Q

Case studies:
Scoville and Milner (1957) -
HM

A

his brain damage was due to the removal of his hippocampus to reduce his sever epilepsy. He couldn’t form LTM’s but he could remember things from before the surgery. Showing that the STM and LTM stores are separate

A

The memory stores are probably much more complex which is shown through the WMM which highlights the type of memories that are stored in each store

Q

How separate are STM and LTM?

A

the MSM suggests that STM comes before LTM. Logie pointed out that STM relies on LTM and therefore cannot come first. For instance the letters ‘AQABBCITVIBM’ in order to recall you must first recall the meanings behind the letters which is stored in LTM
