1. Not needed first 3 weeks
2. Breastfeeding (lactational amenorrhoea) may be used as contraception
3. Breastfeeding women can start POP without additional contraceptive protection
4. Avoid COCP in lactating women as it can affect milk composition and increase the incidence of breast-feeding failure
5. Bottle-feeding women can start COCP 21d post-partum (may increase risk of VTE with earlier commencement)
