Q

How does microclimate (temp, moisture, p/e ratio) differ from a north to south facing slope?

A

The north side of a slope is going to be colder and have less sun than the south side

Q

Why are there so many wildflowers in deciduous woods in the spring?

A

Because the leaves haven’t bloomed fully yet and the sun can reach the ground to provide sunlight to the wildflowers

Q

Why don’t trees grow in prairies?

A

The prairies are burned every certain number of years which kills the tree roots because they haven’t adapted to intense heat. Which prevents any trees from growing.

Q

Explain how geology and climate interact to create MN biomes

A

The temperature is what determines how much water is evaporated, which then leads to determining the P/E ratio, allowing certain plants and wildflowers to grow in certain areas.
