Chapter 8 - The Children Of Promise Flashcards

1
Q

“Nor because they are his descendants are they all Abraham’s children. On the contrary, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.” In other words, it is not the children by physical descent who are God’s children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham’s offspring. For this was how the promise was stated: “At the appointed time I will return, and Sarah will have a son.” Not only that, but Rebekah’s children were conceived at the same time by our father Isaac. Yet, before the twins were born or had done anything good or bad—in order that God’s purpose in election might stand: not by works but by him who calls—she was told, “The older will serve the younger.” Just as it is written: “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.””

““Lord, they have killed your prophets and torn down your altars; I am the only one left, and they are trying to kill me”? Q

Why was Jesus prophesied to be the offspring of a woman and not a man?

A

Because Jesus was conceived by the HS and born of a woman without a husband.

17
Q

““Sing, barren woman, you who never bore a child; burst into song, shout for joy, you who were never in labor; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband,” says the Lord.”

‭‭

A

Isaiah 54:1

18
Q

How did Apostle Paul interpret Isaiah 54:1?

A

Only those born of the Spirit can be God’s children and be saved (Gal 4:27-29).

19
Q

“She gave birth to a son, a male child, who “will rule all the nations with an iron scepter.” And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne.”

‭‭

A

Revelation 12:5

20
Q

The children of promise are born of the Spirit.

A

Romans 9:9
“For this was how the promise was stated: “At the appointed time I will return, and Sarah will have a son.””
‭‭
Galatians 4:28

21
Q

When we study certain prophesies, we can understand that our Church is the remnant of the woman’s offspring. What 3 prophesies did Father mention?

A

Mal 4:5
(I will send you the prophet Elijah…)

Rev 7:2-3
(Another angel from the east)

Isaiah 46:11
(From the east a bird of prey)

22
Q

The church of God fulfills Revelation 12:17- “obey Gods commands and remain faithful to the testimony of Jesus.” How?

A

The church that obeys Gods commands is the one that fulfills the mission of Elijah by completely restoring the New Covenant, once broken, beginning with the 1st commandment, the Passover. And those who hold to the testimony are those who receive the HS that testifies about Jesus

23
Q

““When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me.”

‭‭

A

John 15:26

24
Q

What verse shows the HS enables us to speak the words of God?

A

Acts 2:4
“All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.”
‭‭

25
Q

“But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you.”

‭‭

A

John 16:13-14

26
Q

“because the Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.”

‭‭

A

Acts 8:16-17

27
Q

Why will God pour out the HS on us?

A

So we can be fully armored for a battle against the dragon when he is enraged and makes war

28
Q

““ ‘For I will take you out of the nations; I will gather you from all the countries and bring you back into your own land. I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. Then you will live in the land I gave your ancestors; you will be my people, and I will be your God.”

‭‭

A

Ezekiel 36:24-28

29
Q

“I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. Then they will follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. They will be my people, and I will be their God.”

Ezekiel 11:19-20

30
Q

““But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, you descendants of Abraham my friend, I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, ‘You are my servant’; I have chosen you and have not rejected you. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. “All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish. Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all. For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. Do not be afraid, you worm Jacob, little Israel, do not fear, for I myself will help you,” declares the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel. “See, I will make you into a threshing sledge, new and sharp, with many teeth. You will thresh the mountains and crush them, and reduce the hills to chaff. You will winnow them, the wind will pick them up, and a gale will blow them away. But you will rejoice in the Lord and glory in the Holy One of Israel.”
