Q

Why does Thailand have to control its population ?

A

Due to the increasing birth and death rate
This means that the government will have to provide for more old and young dependants
However the number of economically active people is increasing so there are more people working and putting more money back in the economy.
But it could have a negative impact on the environment as more people use resources which may result in exploiting of resources

Approaches to population control

A

Encouraging people to use condoms. This has also had an impact in stopping the spread of HIV and AIDS. The government had made it illegal for people to work in the sex tourism industry without using a condom
Introducing family planning. This has been enforced due to advertising. This encourages people to think about the number of babies they want, decreasing the population
