Q
Which structure lies midway between the ASIS &pubic symphysis:
A. Femoral artery
B. Deep inguinal ring
C. Superior epigastric artery
D. Inguinal ligament
A

Answer- A. Femoral artery

Femoral artery traverses the femoral triangle from its base (which is formed by inguinal ligament - attached between ASIS and pubic tubercle) at midinguinal point.

Q
Chief extensor of knee joint in hip flexion is
A. Rectus femoris
B. Vastus medialis
C. Vastus lateralis
D. Hamstrings
A

Answer -A. Rectus femoris

Quadriceps femoris (I.e. Rectus femoris, vastus medialis, vastus intermedius, vastus lateralis) is a strong extensor of knee. In addition rectus femoris flexes hip along with iliopsoas.

Q
The kinetic energy of the body is least in one of the following phases of the walking cycle
A. Heel strike
B. Mid-stance
C. Double support
D. Toe-off
A

Answer- B. Mid-stance phase

Speed and so the kinetic energy is maximum in double support phase (I.e. Heel strike, foot flat, toe flat)
And speed and so the kinetic energy is minimum in single support phase i.e. Midstance, midswing, heel off)

Q

True about synovial membrane of knee joint is -
A. Invaginated posteriorly by cruciate ligament
B. Extension into prepatellar bursa
C. Covers inferior surface of both menisci
D. Extension into infrapatellar bursa

A

Answer - A. Invaginated posteriorly by cruciate ligament.

Synovial membrane of knee joint reflects from posterior aspect of joint on to the cruciate ligaments making them extrasynovial structures.

Four bursae communicate with synovial cavity of knee joint - suprapatellar bursa, popliteal bursa, anserine bursa, & gastrocnemius bursa.

Menisci are intraarticular and intrasynovial structures but it’s surface has no synovial coverings. It’s upper surface are in contact with femoral condyle and lower surface with tibial condyle.

Cruciate ligaments are intraarticular or intracapsular but they are extrasynovial structures.
